Boddingtons Pub Ale (English) | Beer Review
Welcome back to the second blog/vlog for Corey Drinks! If you have not checked out the last blog where I reviewed a German beer called Reissdorf Kölsch go check it out here! On my blog I have four different categories for review: appearance, aroma, taste and chugability.
The beer of this week is from the city of Manchester in England. Two men by the name of Thomas, Thomas Caister and Thomas Fry, started the brewery which was then called Strangeways Brewery. Later in 1832, Henry Boddingtons joined their team and by 1853 he became the sole owner which then the named changed to Boddingtons Brewery. The name of the beer is Boddingtons Pub Ale, which is also known as the “Cream of Manchester”. The style of the beer is a pale ale and the alcohol percentage is 4.7%.
All the categories for the review are out of five which will make the final score out of 20. Starting with appearance it has a good looking caramel color but is it also clear and has a nice layer of foam at the top. The appearance rating is a 4/5.
Next we have the aroma, which smelled heavily of peaches and caramel, probably one of the best smelling beers I have had. The aroma score is a 5/5.
Third we have the taste, which in all honestly to me there wasn’t much to taste, it tasted like water. So if you’re trying to get drunk and you don’t like the taste of beer, Boddingtons is a good choice for you. But the lack of flavor brings this to a 1/5.
Finally we have the chugability, which it tasted like water so that made it easy, but then while chugging it felt like I was drinking a thick liquid so I couldn’t chug as fast. So the chugability rating is a 2.5/5.
Together the ratings of the Boddingtons Pale Ale makes it 12.5/20, which is the same score as the previous beer, Reissdorf, but I will say this one is better.
